Sun City Shadow Hills has opened its ten new model homes to rave reviews, with just over a thousand people attending the grand opening celebration of Del Webb’s latest home designs for people 55+. The new floor plans and designs stand out from both the competition and resale homes, offering features and flexibility that consumers want to personalize their home.
“The response has been tremendous,” said Francine Wallace, sales manager at Sun City Shadow Hills in Indo. “Homebuyers tell us they love the unique features that promote easy and effortless living. These plans include everything consumers told us they want, and eliminated the things they didn’t want.”
One popular option in some models in a “half door” in the master closet that connects to the laundry room, Wallace said. “You can just push your laundry basket through the opening and its right there for you to load in the wash.”
She said other popular features include: “connect spaces” for computers so you don’t need to use the kitchen or dining table to stay connected with friends and family; “everyday entry” areas off the garage that create a drop zone for keys, purses, phones, etc.; microwaves and other appliances located for easy access; and the option of a “retreat” that provides a secondary bedroom connection to the master bathroom for couples who are on different schedules.
Designed with a focus on consumer value, the new home offerings at Sun City Shadow Hills start with prices in the high $100,000s. All homes are built to the standards of California’s new code for energy efficiency.
The ten new models range in size from 1,321 to nearly 3,000 square feet. The new plans include a variety of standard features and optional configurations – from large granite kitchen islands and low-threshold entries from the garage, to sun rooms and hearth rooms that are more spacious than ever before.
“You really need to walk these models to appreciate how their innovative design creates a new type of living environment,” Wallace said. “The wide-open great rooms and ten-foot ceilings create a sense of space and have an emphasis on natural light. The rooms connect to large outdoor covered patios and there are so many opportunities to create personal spaces.”
In addition, the active adult builder recently opened a host of new amenities at Sun City Shadow Hills by Del Webb, representing one of the largest new recreational offerings for residents in the area.
The new amenities include the 15,700-square-foot Santa Rosa Clubhouse, complete with fitness center, outdoor pool, indoor walking track and much more. The nearly $10 million investment is quite significant considering that the community already boasts an impressive array of amenities, Wallace said.
“Sun City Shadow Hills continues to be one of the best selling master planned communities not just in Southern California, but the entire state,” Wallace said. “More than 43 clubs and special interest groups are the hallmark of this vibrant community. The continued interest in the Del Webb lifestyle plays a huge role in the vitality not just of this community, but the entire area.”
The new Santa Rose Clubhouse and new amenities include: fitness center with men’s/women’s locker rooms; computer room; indoor walking track; flex room for use as art studio or movement room ; tennis courts; pickleball courts; bocce courts; second dog park; golf bistro and cafe; outdoor covered patio with fireplace; outdoor event lawn; outdoor pool & spa with covered trellis; outdoor sport courts for basketball, volleyball and badminton; boardroom/meeting rooms; lobby/reception area and HOA offices.
Already in place at the community are two golf courses, a full-service restaurant, 35,000-square-foot Montecito Clubhouse with state-of-the-art fitness center; indoor and outdoor pools; tennis and bocce courts; a library; billiards and table games; performing arts and ballroom; hobby, card, and game rooms, and amphitheatre.
